Imagine, your car has been parked in the summer sun all day, and you are about to drive home looking forward to cool air from your car's air-conditioner. Here's what you should do to get that cool air quicker: Never make the mistake of precooling your car. Be patient, and turn on the A/C only when your vehicle is in motion.

Wind all windows down to half-travel (we need to get the hot air out); there is no need to start the engine yet. Turn on the A/C fan to Fresh Air Setting (not recirculate). You could also use the driver's side door as a fan by rocking it back and forth to force the hot air to escape.

Next, start the engine and drive off, leaving the A/C turned off for a minute. Now, switch the A/C on but not at the maximum cool setting (be patient). Windows up and switch the A/C on to a medium cold setting for a few minutes, and then select which setting feels best for you.

Know when to use Recirculation Mode: The recirculation and fresh air modes on your vehicle's heating and A/C system are designed to regulate the air quality and comfort inside your car. Knowing when to use them can help you stay safe and comfortable and save wear and tear on you're A/C system.

Selecting Recirculation mode closes an air duct in the front of the car so that the air from outside does not come inside the vehicle. Recirculating air, especially on a hot day, puts less stress on your car's blower motor and aircon compressor, improving efficiency.
